Tarr Steps, Exmoor.

Our self catering cottages are set in the glorious countryside of Exmoor (Exmoor). With their many footpaths and bridleways, Exmoor, the Brendon Hills and Quantocks provide a walker, horse-rider and cyclist's paradise.

Exmoor offers many visitor attractions including National Trust houses and gardens, great pubs with local ales, picturesque villages and spectacular inland and coastal scenery.

Dunster village & castle
(Dunster)

Exmoor remains unspoiled and underdeveloped. Exmoor teems with wildlife. Our holiday cottages provide an ideal base from which to explore Exmoor's moors and woodlands (perhaps Snowdrop Valley in February), its famous herds of red deer and wild Exmoor ponies. Exmoor's bird life is abundant with many increasingly rare and unusual species.

Visitors on West Withy Lake

Exmoor is also the perfect place for star-gazing and Europe's first 'International Dark Skies Reserve'. (Exmoor star gazing / dark skies). Wimbleball Lake (1 mile away) has Exmoor's first dark skies centre (but you will find your own cottage garden / with mug of hot tea just as good).

Dramatic Exmoor

Many of our guests return time after time to revisit Exmoor favorites like the historic town of Dunster or West Somerset Steam Railway.

Exmoor's Lorna Doone Country

Exmoor's coastline, with its dramatic cliffs and bays, offer excellent walks, quiet coves, some superb beaches and spectacular views.

High Exmoor, Tarr Steps, the Doone Valley and Simonsbath, Lynmouth and coastal Exmoor are all very easy to reach.

Exmoor's Wimbleball Lake (Wimbleball Lake) provides trout fishing and water sports - sailing, rowing, canoeing, windsurfing and star gazing.

Clatworthy Reservoir (less than 2 miles) provides excellent trout fishing.

Walking, horse riding, cycling and other outdoor pursuits are enjoyed along quiet country lanes (yes, with grass in the middle) and the many local footpaths and bridleways. Bring your dogs and horses with you to West Withy Farm.

Exmoor has many good pubs / restaurants - The Rock Inn, The Quarryman's Rest and The Royal Oak. Just ask for our current favourites.

The surrounding villages of Wiveliscombe, Bampton, Dulverton and Brompton Regis provide provisions - there are great butchers.

Supermarkets deliver to the farm and a wet fishmonger visits on a Tuesday.

Taunton and access to the M5 are around half an hour's journey time.
